Listener of the week Rachel Henrich came through in a pinch and found us the Darkwing Duck Theme song, for D for Dark! Rachel is an Oregonian currently living in Texas. She is one of Claire's long time friends and the kind of person you want on your side. She's not afraid of breaking bones: yours or hers. She is an avid dancer and rugby player.

Want to be Listener of the week? Listen to the show. Call us, IM us. Help us pick next week's theme. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL US WHAT TO BE FOR HALLOWEEN.

We're still perfecting our "Songs that will play at my wedding" playlists...so keep watching the blog to learn what songs to blast with a boom box held over your head outside of our windows to automatically win our hearts. (Are you listening, John Cusack??)

See you on the radio!! (TUESDAY, AT 10PM)

M for Movement

That is right soupers. We are changing things up just a little bit. This semester we are going to pick a letter with a corresponding word theme. Next week it will be M for mmmooooovvvment! We are going to be more flexible about the letter each song starts with in exchange for a more thematic show. At least for now!

S is for:

Start!

Hello, hello. It has been quite a while since I've posted. Kayleigh and Claire held it down while Chelsea and I were abroad, but we're back and better than ever!.* Since it's a new semester, we figured we'd shake things up a little bit on Alphabet Soup. At least for tomorrow, the theme of the show is Start, as in beginnings, new stuff, etc. Maybe by the end of the semester we'll pick harder words to improve your vocabulary (the GRE words are fresh in a certain DJ's mind), or maybe half an hour in we'll run out of themed songs, and revert back to our old ways of playing songs that start with S. WHO KNOWS?? TUNE IN AND FIND OUT!!

In case you've forgotten, stream us LIVE tomorrow (TUESDAY) from 10pm-12am on www.WTBUradio.org, IM us at WTBUradioDJ or call us in the studio at 617-353-6400 if you can think of any Start themed songs.

*We think.

L for Love or Lack thereof!

You know the Drill! Highlights!
-Lounge Piano: Babaar. I’ve been told this is more complicated to make than a mash up. So I don’t know what it is but I like it!
-Last Request: I had no idea Paulo Nutini was so young! Wow! And I think Kayleigh is right he has an accent. You can really hear it in the video!
-Laundry Room: I gave you the WHOLE tiny desk concert. Laundry Room is first but why just a little Avett Bros when you can have a lot?
-Bonus!! Passion Pit Sleepyhead ft. PS22 CUTEST EVER!! (Props to Kelsey former video playlist guru)
-Love You Madly: Cake’s music video… cooking pumpkins? I kid you not.

February 11, 2010

For the way you Listen to Alphabet Soup...

The letter of the week is L!

Can you guess why? Perhaps it is because Sunday is February 14th! My second least favorite holiday after New Years! Don't worry we won't just play love songs- but we will just play L songs!

-Knotty Pine: The Dirty Projectors, not with David Bryne, but you lean a little bit about Dark Was The Night. There is a sing along And Vincent Moon (of the Take Away Shows) did the filming.
-Keep Fishin’ Weezer with MUPPETS! It does not get better than Muppets.
-Know your Onion: We played The Shins but I wanted to show you the of Montreal cover.
-Kate: Ben Folds Five. The video is literally just three of them in a bed.
